F.A.Q.

Q. Where do the books I order come from?

A. Book orders are processed and shipped by specialists at Amazon.com. The books are warehoused in Amazon’s book warehousing facilities and are packed and shipped from the warehouse. Amazon maintains several warehousing centers throughout the United States and internationally. Depending on the shipping method you choose your order will be filled by the Amazon warehouse that is closest to your shipping address that has stock available for your order.

Q. I’ve found a listing for a book that I want, but there is no image, just a box that says “Image Not Available”. Why is that?

A. From time to time product suppliers will want to change promotional images used for their sales, there may be a problem with an image on a server, or a publisher may not have provided an image of their book to Amazon. From time to time these reasons will cause images to go down on the site until suitable files are posted up. It does not happen often, as in most cases we will avoid offering products that do not have images available unless there is a high demand from customers.

Q. I’ve found an item I want to buy, but there’s no price listed underneath the title. Why is that?

A. When the price disappears from a product entry in our catalog it means that the product is currently sold out. This happens automatically when the available inventory in the Amazon warehouse is depleted. In most cases there is already more stock on its way. Sold out status can change from day-to-day, especially for popular items. Be sure to check back frequently to see if the item you are looking for is in stock.

Q. I know a graphic novel that I want is in print, but I can’t find it anywhere in your store. How can I get it?

A. First check all of the subcategories under each publisher heading to make sure there isn’t a separate category for the publisher or character you are looking for. If in fact we do not have it send us an e-mail with your request. If available from the Amazon warehouse we will make it available on the website within 24 hours. If we can’t order from Amazon we will search other retailers and publishers and make our best effort to make the product available to you.

Q. What if my order is either damaged, not right, or I am otherwise unsatisfied? How do I return it and request a refund?

A. Easy return instructions are found in the Amazon Customer Service Center.

Q. What methods of payment do you accept?

A. The Amazon payment system will accept most major credit cards, eCheck and direct debiting from your bank account. You can also use any credits you may have on your Amazon member account. We are hoping to make paypal payments available in the future.

Q. How much will shipping be for my order?

A. The cost of shipping your order is ultimately determined by you, the customer. During the checkout procedure you will be offered several Amazon shipping options. The size and weight of your order will affect shipment. Some orders may qualify for free shipping. You will be given all of your shipping options on check out. If you can wait for your books and want to save some money you can choose the cheapest option. If you gotta’ have ‘em now you can pay a few bucks extra get rush delivery.

Q. I don’t get it. Why Wouldn’t I just use Amazon.com?

A. This is a question we are more than happy to answer.

Consumers may decide or choose to purchase from Graphic Novel Depot for the following reasons:

Although Amazon is a great site built and targeted towards book readers and buyers in general, the site itself is not targeted specifically towards graphic novel or comic fans. A search for terms like “graphic novel” or even a specific character or series will often get a listing of random results, and may not get what they are specifically looking for. We've learned from experience that it can take hours of searching, especially for those who collect multiple volume series, to find exactly what you’re looking for. A search for a specific series or title often gives you results for some of the books in the series, but not all of them. These books are available from Amazon, but many consumers assume that they are not because they didn’t turn up in the search results. This is usually caused by different volumes having different key words associated with their database entries. It is often only the hard core fans that take the time to search in-depth for the volumes they want.

Graphic Novel Depot has saved both casual and serious graphic novel readers alike the time it takes to search for specific volumes by putting that search time in ourselves. We have assembled all, or almost all, of the graphic novels you could ever want into one place with easy to navigate listings sorted by publisher and character/series. We’ve also presented this inventory in a more attractive, visual display than can be typically found elsewhere.

We also have a monthly draw for $50 worth of free graphic novels for people who have helped improve the site by offering suggestions and helping us identify kid friendly products. Another feature is that we offer a young reader section so that kids and parents can quickly and easily identify age appropriate content. These are all features that are not present on the regular Amazon site.

Although to the best of our knowledge Graphic Novel Depot is the only retail website powered by Amazon that focuses on the graphic novel market, the idea of a retail website powered by Amazon is not a new one. Many successful and reputable major online retailers are powered by Amazon, some of which include:

Borders.com

Target.com

Jungledisk.com

Endless.com

Walden Books.com

Virginmega.com (owned by Virgin Media)

These are just a few of the many reputable online retailers who are powered by Amazon. Like Graphic Novel Depot, these businesses utilize the online inventory of Amazon.com as an important sales tool, while adding their own touch and branding to the way the material is presented. These retailers enjoy a loyal and regular customer base that chooses to go to their unique website for online purchases. Graphic Novel Depot looks forward to building a similar base of loyal and happy customers.

The ability to establish your own retail website and be able to offer customers the reliability and security offered by Amazon, along with the built in reputation that comes with it, is a valuable asset to any new web-based start-up.

For the time being we are happy to be a part of the network of reputable online retailers powered by Amazon.
